Ride 4 Research
Lake of the Ozarks

The best part about the Lake of the Ozarks is that there are a large number of events that are conducted all through the year. While some of the celebrations are absolutely crazy, there are many others that have a hidden meaning to it. One of the events that falls under the latter is the Ride 4 Research. This one day event is conducted at the Ozarks in honor of Tom Turner, a person who led life to the fullest.
Tom Turner was a exuberant personality who left an indelible impression on the minds of his friends and family, thanks to his helpful and loving nature. He fell prey to cancer and passed away in 2006 when he was just 57 years old. The following year, on his first death anniversary, the various members of his family and friends decided to do something that could enable them to celebrate the life of Tom and give back something to the society he loved so much. They decided there could be no better way of celebrating Tom’s life than organizing the Ride 4 Research event at the Lake of the Ozarks.
This event is a fund raiser event. All the money made during this event is used for funding research to come up with a cure for cancer. This first instance of this event was held at the Lake of the Ozarks in the year 2007. Toad Cove and Camden on the Lake play host to the various contests and shows that are held during this one day event. Over the three years that it has been in existence, the Annual Ride 4 Research has been able to contribute over $25,000 to the America Cancer Society for research purposes.
Of the innumerable biking events that are organized in this region, this particular event has a special meaning for all. The fourth Annual Ride 4 Research event is scheduled to be held at the Ozarks on 15th May, 2010. A number of bike lovers from all over the USA converge at Toad Cove to celebrate Tom’s life and make their contribution towards cancer research. They bring along their favorite bikes and put it up for display.
The Ride 4 Research event starts at 10AM and goes on till midnight. There is an entrance fee of $25 applicable per person. This fee includes breakfast, pleasurable ride around the Ozarks, Silent Auction, Live entertainment, Hog Roast and the Big Bike contest.
The event kicks off with breakfast at 10:30AM post registration. At noon, there is a 125 mile ride organized around the lake and finally at 4pm, it culminates with sumptuous hog roast at Toad Cove’s Bar and Grill restaurant.
The 39th Street Blues Band and Big John are all set for live performances from 4pm to 7pm. This will be followed by live performances from Llord NakCor from 8pm to midnight. Between 5pm and 6pm, the silent auction is held to sell that various artifacts by wood sculptures in order to raise money for the research program.
If you are a lover of bikes and would like to play a part in contributing to society, ensure you attend the Ride 4 Research at the Ozarks on May 15th, 2010.
