Help Return Offshore Super Series (OSS) Racing to Lake of the Ozarks 2011

It is not erroneous to say that OSS to boaters is comparable to NASCAR for car lovers. Though, the Offshore Super Series started just seven years ago, it has gained immense popularity all over the country. There are some people who arrive from other countries too to display their boat's performance. While the first edition of this event in 2007 saw the arrival of 30,000 visitors, this number has increased in leaps and bounds with the passage of years. The last year the event was hosted at LOTO was in 2009, when the Ozarks played host to an estimated 70,000 visitors.

Race Village is like being in the pits at a NASCAR or Indy race. Unlike other forms of motorsports, the OSS Race Village is open to the public. Fans can talk with, get autographs and take pictures of the racers and boats, some of which can reach speeds upwards of 200 miles per hour.

The Offshore Super Series is not just about boat racing. You can witness the performances of some of the best bands in the country who come to the Ozarks to entertain the thousands of visitors. It is estimated that a race weekend brings in at least five million dollars to the local economy.

Currently, there are no plans to have the races return to the lake. The group that previously produced the three day event can not secure the needed sponsorship monies. Anyone interested in helping to fund or organize the return of OSS Racing to the Ozarks should contact John Brunner, OSS Director of Operations at jbrunner@offshoresuperseries.com
