The Annual Early Bird Open Buddy Bass Tournament is generally organized during the last weekend in the month of March. This is considered to be the perfect time for fishing at the Ozarks since it is held around the time when the bass spawning is at its prime. The enthusiasm levels at the venue each year is so high that even amateurs do not think twice about competing against professional anglers eager to show-off their skills.
The Annual Early Bird Open Buddy Bass Tournament is a two day event that is held over a weekend, thus enabling a larger number of people to participate and try their hand at winning. Any person with or without their boats can register for the event. While the ones with boats can bring it to the venue, those who do not own a boat can rent a boat for the event. Any individual over the age of 16 can compete in this tournament. Children below the age of 16 intending to enter the competition can do so in the capacity of non boater provided they have a parent or guardian alongside them with a boat.
The registration for this event is open well in advance and individuals can download the registration form and put forth their names. There is a $100 registration fee applicable for all the entrants. You have an option of registering your names at the venue too just before the event commences; however, that will attract an extra $20 fee. In order to avoid the extra charges, make sure you register for the event at least 24 to 48 hours before the event commences.
In order to qualify for the event, your boat must be at least 14 feet long. Each boat can have a maximum of two people on board during the event. Participants have to abide by the rules and regulations laid down by Missouri Water Patrol and Missouri Department of Conservation.
On Saturday, the event takes off at 7am and goes on till 4pm which is when the final weigh in for the day's catch takes place. On Sunday too, the tournament takes off at 7am and goes on till 2pm which is when the final weigh in for the day takes place. The team with the fish weighing the most will be awarded post the final weigh in session on Sunday. There will be two winning teams - one for Saturday and the other for Sunday. The winners will take home cash prizes that will more than compensate for their expenses to attend the tournament.
