Guests who have taken the opportunity to ride through this gorgeous region are unanimous in rating the experience as memorable. Small groups are welcome but it’s important to make advance reservations. Stables are only a short distance from the most modern hotels and condominiums. In addition, some people choose to stay in a rustic cabin, a motor home or tent and complete the outdoor experience with a few hours of horseback riding.

Prices vary from one business to another, of course. But stables generally offer short rides of about an hour, as a way to get started, as well as longer trips of four to five hours (with lunch break). Per-person rates for the longer rides can run from $125 to $140. Shorter rides can range from $20 up.

One of the great things about Lake of the Ozarks horseback riding is the experience that the owners and guides have. Almost anyone can enjoy this unique activity without previous experience with horses. The animals are very calm and are used to having different riders from day to day. Stables also provide horses of different sizes to accommodate family and group rides. Children are certainly welcome.

Many riders find the quiet surroundings are the best feature of Lake of the Ozarks horseback riding. There are no engines running, no music and sometimes little conversation. Riders have the opportunity to view the animals and plants in their native habitat. Whether you bring your own mount for an organized trail ride or take the opportunity to go for a ride on a “rented” horse, Lake of the Ozarks horseback riding is sure to be a highlight of your stay.
