Eldon, MO is known to the world through the popular television show Petticoat Junction that was based on a hotel in Eldon. This small railroad town is located in Miller County in the state of Missouri. It has an area of 3.4 square miles with a high density of population. The census of 2000 calculated its population to be 4,895 with most of the workforce engaged in the several manufacturing industries that were dotted here. But the recession has seen some of the industries closing shop and people engaging in different activities.
