Camdenton, MO
Camdenton is a city in Camden County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,779 at the 2000 census. The city is enveloped by the Lower Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks and serves as a popular trade point for visitors to the area. Camdenton is one of the newest county seats in the state of Missouri, established in 1931. When Union Electric Light and Power Company (Ameren UE) of St. Louis dammed the Osage River, the body of water held captive by Bagnell Dam forced the relocation of more than a few towns. One of these was Linn Creek, the original Camden County seat. Some residents moved to a "new" Linn Creek while others moved to the freshly minted Camdenton, being platted at the intersections of SR 5 and US 54. Camdenton is home to Bridal Cave, which holds the world's record for the most underground weddings. During the third week of April the famous Dogwood Festival brings visitors from around the world. Just a few miles outside town you will find the not-to-be-missed Ha Ha Tonka State Park, estate of a wealthy Kansas City businessman
