Lake of the Ozarks Reviews

Review of Half Sauced Barbeque

My husband and brother was in the mood for barbecue during our last visit to the Ozarks a few weeks ago and Half Sauced Barbeque was the first place that we found from where we were staying. I looked on a few different websites for reviews but didn’t really any see any feedback so we decided to give it a try and really it wasn’t that bad.

They have a large variety of smoked fresh meats that have different types of sauces on them. I ordered barbecue wings and everyone else ordered the smoked barbecue ribs and seemed to enjoy it. The prices aren’t that high so even if you are paying for a large group it’s still affordable. I do wish they gave you bigger servings per order. We ordered a couple of different appetizers thinking that it would be enough to feed everyone until the individual orders came but it wasn’t so we had to order double what we had originally ordered. Since the prices were decent it wasn’t too bad.

I think that the service that we received was good and most of the staff was pretty nice to us. Our waiter refilled our drinks fairly quickly and was attentive so we didn’t have to wait for long periods of time for things like you do at some restaurants. They were fairly busy but still seemed to be on track so I would give them 7 out of 10. I would definitely eat there again and recommend others to eat there as well. You are getting good food at an affordable price with great service.

Oh there is one thing that I did not like about Half Sauced Barbeque and that is the bathrooms. It could have been that they just had not been cleaned that day because there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls and some of the commodes were less than sanitary.

Review of Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina

My visit at the Shorty Pants Lounge and Marina wasn’t too bad. We had dinner there during our vacation last year and the food was good but the prices were a bit higher that we were used to. Of course we paid it so we could have something that we liked to eat but I don’t know if I would be able to bring myself to pay that kind of price on a daily basis but its okay every now and then. They had a variety of entrees that were under $10 which wasn’t priced too bad since several people could share it.

I ordered the duck wrap which was something that I had never heard of and I really didn’t like it after a couple of bites so I gave it to my dad which devoured it. He really liked it and ended up giving me part of his catfish and blackened snapper which was very good. My mom had ribs and a salad which she thought was good other than being a bit overcooked.

Even though the food wasn’t the best that I had ever had the atmosphere here was pretty laid back which made it a fun day and I really enjoyed the outside tables that they had which allowed us to eat and watch the boats dock at the same time. We got to see boats bring in fish food for many hungry fish that actually swam to the top to eat. I was able to take a few really good pictures for my travel journals which I really was excited about.

I would give Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina a 6 overall based on beautiful views, good service, decent food, good seating but with the downfall of pricey food. I would eat there again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Review of Li’l Rizzo’s

I love Italian food and I love Li’l Rizzo’s. I live 120 miles away and I drive there every weekend just to eat there. Their food is beyond amazing and I love the laid back atmosphere here. I have tried almost everything on the menu and usually try to have something different every time I visit but my two favorite things have got to be the lasagna and pepperoni pizza. It has just the right amount of everything and really feels as though you are eating dishes from Italy.

Not only is the food great but the service is equally as good. Prices are average so I am happy with them. If you have a family is place is great and they really do go out of their way to put a smile on the face of kids. I see the servers telling jokes and just being naturally happy with where they work. How many places to do you really see where the workers enjoy serving their customers?

I did hear a couple people complain about the noise level and it was a bit loud but I don’t think I have ever seen a pizza joint that didn’t have any type of noise especially if there were children or teenagers there. I didn’t mind the noise especially since we usually have a large group with us for lunch. They cater well to groups of most sizes. The second time I ever ate here was after a wedding reception and we had at least 30 people in our group and we were all seated within 15 minutes and had our food in less than 30.

I give Li’l Rizzo’s a 10 because they are great at everything and provide on the best food at affordable prices. I will continue eating here at least 2 times a month like normal.

Review of Michael’s Steak Chalet

I have mixed feelings about Michael’s Steak Chalet for several different reasons. My husband wanted to stop here because he loves steak and we were starving so I agreed (even though I do not like steak I assumed I could find something else to eat). When we first got there the ambiance seemed really great and it was packed so I figured that the food would be really good. We asked how long it would take to get a table and was told 10 minutes max. It ended up taking about 45 minutes to be seated which really was disappointing since we had been traveling for 8 hours straight and were really hungry.

Once we got to the table it took another 20 minutes before our waitress even came by and she wanted to bring us drinks and give us a few minutes to order but we were ready by the time she got back with the drinks. I ordered the prime rib and he ordered steak (of course). The food ended up tasting okay but definitely not the best that I had ever had. My potato was overcooked and I started to ask for a new one but figured by the time I got it the rest of my food would be cold. The views were nice and the food was decent so overall I would give it about a 5. I would eat there again if I had no other choice but it wouldn’t be the first one that I picked.

One of the biggest things that I didn’t like was they have a smokers section and the smoke was blowing right in on us. We are not smokers so that was a huge problem for us to endure especially while eating. If I ever eat there again I would ask to be seated away from any smoking areas.

Review of On The Rise: Bakery & Bistro

My family and I have been to the Lake of the Ozarks about 5 times total and I have eaten at On The Rise about 7 times and love it more and more each time I visit. It’s not only one of the best places on the lake to eat but maybe one of the best places that I have ever eaten in my life. To start off they have a large variety of foods available including breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are a bakery and a restaurant so you can choose to eat here or to just purchase bread and pastry products. We have done both and think it’s worth every penny that we have spent. My two favorite dishes is the Scottish club sandwich and their lobster bisque which makes my mouth water just thinking about them.

If you are on a budget many of their prices may be a bit out of your range because they are definitely not cheap which is a little surprising because they do have competition. However, with the tasty food that they offer they probably don’t have to sacrifice prices to keep customers. The homemade chips are also very good and if you are at a table you get unlimited refills on them until you leave.

The one thing that I do not like about On The Rise is the service at times. I haven’t really had too much problems with the waiters but I have seen them be rude to customers for no reason and act as though it’s okay. Their food is really good and I will eat there again but for those individuals who were offended I don’t blame them if they never return. Overall I would have given them a 10 for great food but I have to give them a -2 for customer service sometimes.

Review of Tupelo Honeys Restaurant

This restaurant my twin sister loves but I am not too fond of it. It serves mainly American food and lots of different desserts (which is the one thing I do like about them). I honestly prefer restaurants that are a bit more updated and this place is kind of run down in a way. They have reasonable prices for the food but I guess it’s just not my taste. We have been to The Lake of the Ozarks about 5 times now and every time we go my parents and twin sister all order their breakfast and seem to really like it. The pork chop and eggs seem to be the thing they order most but since I don’t eat meat I always opt for different things. I do kind of like their cheese omelets (minus the meet) and tea.

As I said they do make great desserts though including different kinds of cakes, pies, cookies and a lot of other yummy things. I absolutely love the Mocha Cake that they make which is weird since I normally don’t like anything with a coffee taste but theirs is the best. We celebrated my little brothers 8th birthday at the lake and they gave him an entire chocolate cake for free which I thought was pretty nice of them since most places would only offer to give a discount or sing happy birthday.

If you like to eat big then I would suggest going on Thursday nights since they have a buffet and you can eat as much as you like. Also they do something that I don’t see at many restaurants near the lake and that is serve different kinds of homemade foods including jellies and preserves. Their bakery is always packed when we stop in to eat so I guess they do fairly well. I would give them a 6 for friendliness and good food.

Review of the Baymont Inn & Suites – Lake of the Ozark

I have to say that I was very surprised by this hotel. I am not particularly fond of the Baymont Inn and Suites chain but all of the other ones I have ever stayed in were at least tolerable. This was the most disgusting hotel that I have ever stayed in ever. They were extremely high priced and since everything was booked due to this being a spur of the moment trip I figured it would be a nice play to stay, boy was I wrong.

It would be easier to list what I liked about the hotel than what I didn’t like. The staff was pleasant but that didn’t make up for all of the things that were crappy such as no Internet for the entire stay, broken ice machine, the vending machine gave the wrong snacks so basically I lost my money, and the pool water was discolored. We had a long flight so I was looking forward to taking a nice hot shower but that didn’t happen since the water pressure is almost like a drip and the hot water lasted for about 2 minutes before it turned into a luke warm bath.

Normally I can deal with a few things going wrong but it seemed like everything with the hotel stay was awful. I also like to stay in shape but since it was raining when we got there I couldn’t go for a run so I had planned on using the fitness center which much to my luck was closed the entire time I was there. I have no clue why the fitness room was closed but I probably should be glad I didn’t get to use anything because it would have just broken on me. I would have to give them a 3 and that really is pushing it.

Review of Sleep Inn & Suites Lake of the Ozarks

I have stayed at the Sleep Inn & Suites three times now during my visits to the Lake of the Ozarks and absolutely love them. I actually know quite a few of the staff members by name now which always makes us feel welcome when we visit. The only complaint about the hotel is that you can hear everything that goes on in the other rooms but other than that I am happy with everything else.

I always get the king suite when I stay here because I like the size of the beds. All the rooms have complimentary mini refrigerators and microwaves which is great if you want a snack but don’t want to leave the room. They also offer free internet which more and more hotels are starting to charge for.

The views aren’t great here either but that’s okay because it’s not like I stand in my room’s window all day anyways. The swimming pool is very large and is very relaxing after a 4 – 5 hour car drive. I had a friend drive down at the last minute and I know a lot of hotels will charge for extra people in the room but they kept my rate the same which I was pretty happy about.

Other than the noise level which can be a pain when you are trying to sleep I am pretty satisfied with the hotel overall. The rooms are clean, the hotel is nice and the staff has always been very courteous even when I called down 3:00 am in the morning requesting toilet paper during my last stay. The rates seem to be about the same as other hotels in the area so I don’t really feel as though I am getting a great rate but at least I‘m not being overcharged so I think they deserve a 6.

Review of Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks

The Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks which is located near Osage Beach is one of the best accommodations that I have stayed in during my visit to the Ozarks. I really liked the fact that it felt like a mini apartment instead of a hotel. Our we chose to go with a suite during a visit and we actually had a total of 5 rooms including the bathroom, two fairly good sized bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen and a living room area.

Aside from having ample space I loved the fact that I had a deck which allowed me to see the beautiful views without ever leaving my room. The rates was really reasonable too compared to some of the other hotels and rentals that I had called when planning my trip.

Some of the hotels that I had called were much higher than the Resort and they didn’t have half of the amenities that we did with our stay. For example they have an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, fitness center and even a game area which contained a ping pong table. It was awesome because two of the days that we were there it rained and it allowed us to keep busy since we couldn’t really be outdoors like we wanted to.

My favorite thing was the water park that was associated with the resort. It was a bit pricey but worth every penny. We enjoyed the resort almost as much as we did the Ozarks. It really is a great place to stay and I would recommend it over almost any other place there.

Also just so you know if you call in advance you can usually get a discount for booking early. We stayed for a week and I booked two months in advance and saved around $150 which was great. I think this hotel deserves a 7.

Review of Lake Ozark Vacations

The Lake Ozark Vacations is the best ever. I truly love their service and the condo that I rented for two weeks made me sad to leave when it was time to go home. I was so impressed by the look and feel of my condo that it almost felt like I was at home. When planning our vacation to the Ozarks my husband and I debated on whether to get a normal hotel room or a condo and I am so glad that we went with his choice.

The Lake Ozark Vacations staff was great too. They have around 200 or so condos to choose from so they asked us a few questions and basically helped us to plan our entire trip. They not only booked my rental but also helped me with shows, restaurant reservations and even gave us tips on where to shop.

The views from my condo were absolutely breathtaking. We decided to save our vacation time so we could take extended 2 week vacation instead of just a few days here and there over the year and I am so glad I did. I got to enjoy 14 days of being able to wake up and look out the window to views that I had never seen before.

If you are looking for a romantic place to stay I definitely would recommend the Lake Ozark Vacations. Their condos are very spacious and have everything that you could ever want or need. My condo was almost as big as my apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and a small dining room. Also there was a large deck off of the condo that overlooked the lake which was awesome especially just as the sun was rising or setting. I think that the Lake Ozark Vacations deserve an 8 overall because they really are great.

Next time you are heading to the Lake of the Ozarks make sure to stay here.

Review of Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Lake of the Ozarks

The Econo Lodge Inn could definitely stand a few improvements in many different areas starting with the staff. I am an adventurous person and each time I visit the Ozarks I like to try out new hotels so I chose this hotel and really wished I had chosen a different hotel. I was vacationing with two friends so I had to get up at 5:00 am and fly 4 hours away to meet my friends and then we drove the final 6 hours. We arrived at the hotel at 8:00 pm at night and was told that we were supposed to check in by 6:00 pm or that our room would be canceled. First off I had put late check in on the reservation and check in wasn’t until 4:30 pm anyways so really what the desk clerk was saying made no sense. We asked to speak to a manager and once that was settled we finally got our room key.

So we get to our room and I was extremely tired so I wanted to take a quick shower and go to bed. My friend had the key so she tried to unlock the door and it wouldn’t open. I tried the second key and it didn’t work either. We had to go all the way back to the front desk to ask for working keys before we could get into our room. Once we go the key and got into the room we found only 1 towel in the bathroom, no wash clothes and no toilet paper. Seriously? Don’t these people actually check the rooms to see if they are stocked? So yea we had to call the front desk to get the necessities that we needed. They actually wanted one of us to come back to the front desk to get it and I told them absolutely not that it wasn’t my place to stock their room.

For the most part the stay after that was okay other than staff who really seemed a bit slow and having to repeatedly ask for stuff that should have already been in the room. I probably wouldn’t stay there again unless I had no other choice. I will give them a 1 since the scales don’t have negatives.

Review of Domenico’s Italian Restaurant

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at during my many visits to The Lake of The Ozarks. They have a great selection of Italian foods including Pizza, Lasagna, and many other types of noodle dishes. They have the best Pizza that I think I have ever eaten. If you are a pizza lover this is the place for you. They have the normal toppings such as pepperoni, sausage, meat lovers, ham, extra cheese (my family’s favorite) and tons of different specialty pizzas where you can pick your own toppings.

Another dish that my family really liked was the steak arcabso and prime rib. The best thing about this place for families is the fact that they have ample seating and great service. If you have kids and ever went to a restaurant that made you way for hours before even being seated with small children you know how important it is to get a table right away. Also they have a menu that offers items that will make almost anyone happy including teenagers (which sometimes is hard). My husband loved the fact that he could have as much Prime Rib as he wanted without having to pay extra. Not too many restaurants offer unlimited amounts on their more expensive foods.

On the flip side some of the dishes were a little expensive for my taste but over all I was satisfied with everything. I do wish that they had more dessert options that what they offered. Compared to many of the places that I have eaten during my visit to The Lake of The Ozarks I would definitely put it in the top ten for best overall restaurants. From 1 – 10 we would have to give it a 7 for a combination of the staff, cleanliness and great food.

Review of Country Hearth Inn Lake Ozark

I am pretty neutral when it comes to my stay at the Country Hearth Inn. I really didn’t have an awesome stay but it wasn’t really bad either. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I booked my hotel room for a wedding that I had to attend and we stayed there for about 3 days and it went pretty smoothly. They provided us with a free breakfast so that was pretty cool. I enjoyed the waffles that were made by one of their staff members.

I stayed there during the summer and one thing that I did notice was the air conditioning in my room didn’t work very well. I actually went out and bought a fan to put in my room for the duration of my stay because I called management and no one ever came to look at it. I guess others would have complained but I didn’t feel as though it was work the effort since I could solve the problem by buying the fan.

The hotel allows pets which kind of bothered me to since the rooms did have a bit of pet hair which probably came from a dog. I really think that if a hotel is going to allow pets they should have certain rooms dedicated to it and keep other rooms for those who do not want to sleep in the same room where pets has been. That is something that could affect anyone who may have pet allergies especially if the maid service does not clean the room well.

Other than the couple of things that I mentioned I would recommend the Country Hearth Inn to others. Overall it’s not a bad hotel and the rates are pretty decent compared to others in the same area. It may even be a bit cheaper depending on how many nights you plan on staying.

Review of Lake Valley Golf & Country Club

We visited the Lake of the Ozarks last year and I really wanted to play golf so we visited the Lake Valley Golf & Country Club. It was okay but wasn’t the greatest in the world just because most of the people that we talked to there came across very rude and snotty. I normally wouldn’t refer to someone with those terms but they really didn’t seem to enjoy having us play golf with them that day. It was me and a few friends who decided to spend the day playing a round of golf. We currently was on a business trip and had finished up 3 days early so we thought we would use it to spend time at the Ozarks like we have done several times before.

The golf course itself and everything was nicer than the one we have home but that doesn’t really help to make up for the fact that they were rude. I really didn’t think it would be that big of a deal since it’s in a tourist location I thought they would be used to individuals that weren’t locals playing there but apparently not. We played there for about 4 hours and decided that we weren’t welcome so we headed back to our camp area to go fishing. I would give them a 6 on the actual golf course and a -2 one the way the employees there behaved so maybe 4 total. I really wished they would have acted better because we frequent the Ozarks every few months so we could have brought them a lot of business. I guess we will be finding a new golf course to use during our visit.

Review of Asia Cuisine

My husband and I decided to try out this restaurant after reading a ton of positive reviews on it. We arrived on a Monday and were a little surprised because it’s very small, there weren’t a lot of customers there and they seemed kind of run down to be honest with you. Not really what I expected from the reviews that I had read.

So we decided to place order for a large hot sake, sushi role, pan-fried noodles, and Neptune in a Bird’s Nest which is a combination of veggies and seafood. We also ordered mocha ice cream for dessert. Honestly I was surprised by how good everything tasted and sometimes first impressions really aren’t everything because normally I would have not stopped at a place that looked so tiny and out of the ordinary but I am definitely glad that I did. The only complaint that I really had was the sauce that we used was a bit too bland for our taste but other than that they are probably one of the top 5 Asian restaurants that I have ever eaten at. The portions of veggies and seafood in my Neptune in a Bird’s Nest was more than I normally get even at some of the larger Asian restaurants that I eat at on a normal basis so that was definitely a plus for them. I think our favorite dish was the pan-fried noodles so the next time we are here we will try new things on the menu but continue to order this dish as well.

I would definitely give this odd little restaurant an 8 because there service is great, the food is great and the prices are very affordable. I know that we noticed one couple that seemed to be regulars so I am guessing we just stopped during one of the slowest times of the day or there would have been more customers in the restaurant.

Review of Bridal Cave

We recently visited the Lake of the Ozarks and on our way there we saw a sign for the Bridal Cave so we decided to check it out since we had some extra time on our hands. Inside they have a rock shop which is great for those who want to buy souvenirs. To get to the cave entrance for the tour and the rock shop you have to travel down a flight of wooden steps that are winding which was pretty cool especially for the kids. They thought it was all dangerous and everything. We didn’t buy anything but it was fun to look at the small amount of inventory that was there.

The Bridal Cave tour was my favorite part especially the story behind it. The tour guide told us that there used to be wedding ceremonies here between Indian tribes. There were supposed to have been over 2000 marriage ceremonies that had taken place in the cave so I really thought that was awesome.

The tour lasted about an hour and I learned that this particular cave has more onyx formations than any other cavern in the world or at least that is known of. It’s also really cool to see something that is considered the best of its kind and some of the rock formations that I got to see firsthand here was beautiful. The price for the tours wasn’t too bad for what I got to see but I thought the tour was a little short but overall it was worth the stop.

I would give the Bridal Cave a 6 overall because the cave was awesome, the temperature in the cave was bearable, prices were decent and the guide seemed to be educated well enough on the history of the cave. I do wish there was more items in the gift shop to choose from and that the bathrooms were more accessible.

Review of Lake of the Ozarks State Park

My family and I decided that when we went to visit the Ozarks we were going to camp out at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park which was supposed to be the biggest state park in Missouri. We really didn’t realize how big it really was until we got there. It had several miles of shoreline which included boat launching areas and a couple of public beaches which was great for swimming. I thought that it was just a normal public park but apparently it has summer camps here which have horseback riding and tons of hiking trails (which we did use by the way). The camp ground was okay until we started having problems with the raccoons. It normally wouldn’t have been a big issue but they ended up destroying one of our tents which meant we had to find a new place to stay.

We ended up staying at one of the outpost cabins which I liked much better than the tent but still wished the kids would have gotten to stay under the stars like they had hoped for. Overall the state park really did offer a lot more than I had expected and for the most part we really enjoyed our trip other than minor things such as the raccoons causing damage and we did have a snake that wondered in to the cabin which was a bit creepy but we managed to remove him before I had a nervous breakdown.

I would give the camp a 6/7 for the amount of stuff that they do provide you with especially the lantern and grill for barbecuing but it’s really remote here which makes for a long drive and we did get lost a few times.

Review of Pamela’s at the Lake Day Spa

During my first visit to the Lake of the Ozarks was to celebrate my 5 year wedding anniversary. I really enjoyed my stay. I really had a horrible back ache and my husband suggested that I get a massage to see if I could get some type of relief. I spent most of the day calling different massage companies and either they was completely booked or wasn’t open. My husband told me he would keep trying while I took a hot shower. When I came out he said he had made me an appointment at Pamela’s at the Lake Day Spa.

He told me that he was going to drop me off and just hit a few of the shops near the spa and for me to just call him when I was ready to be picked up. By this time I was ready to try anything for my back ache so I was more than ready to go. When I arrived the massage therapist that I talked to ask what area was hurting and took me right in which was very nice of them. Within 30 minutes I had no pain and was so grateful to her and my husband for finding them.

What I didn’t know was that after my massage and was ready to pay she said that my services had already been paid for by my husband and that I wasn’t finished. He had booked me for the entire evening to be pampered not only with a massage but a facial, manicure, pedicure and anything else that I wanted since he had gave them an open budget. That was very sweet of him and made my wedding anniversary perfect. I give my husband a 15 and the spa a 10 just because I felt so welcome and they did a great job.

Review of Comfort Inn Lake of the Ozarks

I have mixed feelings about the Comfort Inn that I stayed at during my visit to the Ozarks. The room and hotel itself was very clean and I was glad that we got internet access for free since I had to work even though I was on vacation. Also there was an outdoor pool which was okay but normally I prefer an indoor swimming pool. I also like the fact that they provide you with a mini frig and microwave for free since many hotels actually charge extra for these.

The one thing that I did not really like was the fact that I was charged a different rate than I was told on the phone. There was roughly a $30 difference since I was originally quoted $103 but once we checked in my card was charged for $133. I didn’t really think anything about it because I thought it was a deposit that would drop off once I checked out since most hotels charge one but later I found out that it was the rate I was charged. Since I stayed 5 nights the rate ended up costing me an additional $150 plus the taxes over what I had originally budgeted for. I talked to the clerk when checking out but said there was nothing she could do about it so I basically was stuck paying the bill. I understand that rates can change but since I booked my hotel room while being on the phone with them based on the quote that was given to me it should have been locked in. I have never heard of the rate changing after you made your reservations.

So would I recommend them to friends and family? Probably so but I would tell them to make sure they have an email confirmation with the amount so they can’t be screwed over like I was. I would give them a 4 -5 because they do have a few good points as well as bad.

Review of Camden on the Lake Resort, Spa, & Yacht Club

Wow, what can I say about the Camden other than you stink. When I think of spas or Yachts I think luxurious. This may very well be the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in before in my life. I saw pictures of the resort online and really thought that it would be a great stay during my visits of the Ozarks. My family booked 8 rooms because my brother was getting married here and when we arrived to check in they had 5 rooms available. We drove 8 hours to be told that they lost 3 of the reservations and could not allow more than 4 people per room unless we paid some crazy fees that were additional. I understand that mistakes happen but not only was they rude but they were going to charge us extra for their mistakes. What kind of professional hotel does that?

Okay so we decide that we are going to have to bunk together until the next day when more rooms became available but that didn’t go as planned. We were told that the additional rooms would be vacant and cleaned by 2:00 pm the next day so we could have the rooms that we originally booked. When we got to the front desk to retrieve the keys for the additional rooms we were told that the desk clerk had already rented the rooms so again there was only one available. The beds were uncomfortable, the carpets were dirty and one of the rooms didn’t even have toilet paper. Needless to say we checked out that same day and haven’t been back since.

If you don’t mind dirty rooms, staff that has no clue what they are doing and being lied to then I would recommend the Camden. If you want a hotel room that is clean with a staff that knows how to do their job then look else were. They would get a 0 on my scale. Worst hotel ever.

Review of Body Solutions Spa in Osage Beach, MO

This one has become my favorite massage center in Osage Beach, following the multiple visits that have made to the area last few years. Work carries me to Osage Beach and Body Solutions Spa provides the perfect antidote to my stressful life as a real estate agent.

The treatments that this place offers includes the known ones like Swedish massages, hot stone massages etc and also other holistic ones like era candling and rain treatment. The place is easily accessible and the staff fuss free. Although one has to get an appointment, it can usually be obtained for the same day or the next day.

The things that I love about this place are many. First is their ease of approachability. They are located at Osage Beach road and hence are very accessible but they still provide at-home massages. The at-home menu is a bit restricted but it is a good fix for when you are so tired that taking a step out of the bed is an effort. I like the fact that their staff is properly trained. They don’t waste any time fidgeting with the body and get to the business straight with a measured precociousness. Also, they are polite enough to explain the differences in various types of treatments to the usually ignorant clients. Additionally, my travels make me see Body Solutions as a spa that delivers without charging atrocious expenses.

The bad points, though few still exist. I would have loved if they could expand from their status as a day spa and let people stay for the nights as well- something like a relaxation retreat. Also, they are unanimously loved by the locals and the travelers and hence you can’t just walk in for a massage and an appointment is needed.

I have been going to Body Solutions Spa for over 8 years now and plan to continue it in the future.

Review of Timber Falls Water Park in Osage Beach, MO

The early inception of the heat this year caused our family to crave for a premature vacation. We decided on Osage Beach in Missouri because it was close (3.5 hours from where we live in Kansas), fell within our budget and would have provided a change of air. While there, we visited Timber Falls Water Park. It was an impulse decision really and we don’t regret it.

Timber Falls Water Park is located inside Tan-Tar-A Resort which spreads along the banks of Lake of the Ozarks. Located indoors, it is overlooked by a giant bucket that tips a rush of water at the people standing below at regular intervals. There is a three-story tall tree house which keeps directing jets of water as people climb up and down it. There are four slides in total- two coming from the tree house and two from the adjacent towers. There is an activity pool, lazy river, whirlpool and a few water games. We found the basic amenities of lockers and changing rooms as well. The passes were $17 per person, which were $5 less than the regular amount that they charge form people not staying in their resort.

The water park is located indoors, which was a sigh of relief to my wife who is forever paranoid about the children getting sunburns and heat strokes. The pool areas as well as accompanying faculties were all well kept. Although we saw no staff actively cleaning the area, it was still spick-and span. No horrible chlorine smell and lifeguards, for a change, were attentive. My daughter especially loved the tree house and the bucket which reside over the entire scene.

However I think that they could have used some of the Ozark’s natural beauty by building an outdoor park instead of an indoor one. In total, there are not many things to complain about. However, the water park isn’t always open; they have a tricky schedule that changes a lot. Make sure to check on their website before going.

Review of Stockton’s Pub & Grill

Stockton’s Pub & Grill can be found inside the Premium Outlet Mall, Osage Beach, in Lake of the Ozarks. The restaurant describes itself as a uniquely Stockton’s Pub & Grill American Pub & Grill in the heart of Osage Beach and the menu includes a variety of popular dishes commonly found in American restaurants: chilli cheese French fries, chicken strips, sandwich wraps, and burgers.

Ideally located to appeal to hungry shoppers, you might assume that Stockton’s Pub & Grill would be grateful for the busy trade afforded by the millions of people passing through the Osage Beach Outlet Mall. But unfortunately, on the lunchtime I visited with my family that was clearly not theStockton’s Pub & Grill in Osage Beach, MO case.

We were tired and hungry, and because Stockton’s is the only sit down restaurant in the mall, we decided to take give it a try. The menu looked good and the prices appeared to be reasonable, but although the location is convenient, the service at this restaurant really sucks.

We waited an unbelievable forty-five minutes to get served and I was on the verge of taking the kids and heading home instead. But worse was yet to come. The food (when it did show up) was lukewarm, and when I complained (politely) our waitress was downright rude and pretty much said it was not their fault. Eventually she offered to bring some more food, but given the wait we had already endured, I decided it was not worth the hassle.

Stocktons Pub and Grill in Osage Beach, MOOnce we had finished eating, I requested the bill. Upon checking it, I soon realized that I had been overcharged and although I pointed this out immediately, the waitress was adamant the bill was correct. The manager was duly called over, but he stood by the waitress and ignored the obvious math error. It was only $2.65, but whatever happened to “the customer is always right”?

Take my advice and do not bother eating at Stocktons! I’ll give it 1/5 for the mediocre chilli fries.

Review of Inn at Harbour Ridge Bed and Breakfast

The Inn at Harbour Ridge Bed & Breakfast is located on the Red Barn Road at Osage Beach, Lake of the Ozarks. The Inn is an award winning bed and breakfast and has plenty to offer discerning guests who are seeking a true home from home while staying at the Lake of the Osarks. It is rated as one the top ten B&Bs in the country, and after spending a night there, it was not difficult to see why.

I booked one night at the Inn at Harbour Ridge Bed & Breakfast as a romantic treat for my other half. It was the description of the private starlit hot tub that sold it to me, and I was not disappointed!

The inn is incredibly romantic and the owners, Sue and Ron, have gone to a lot of trouble to make the place comfortable and relaxing. The rooms are decorated to individual themes and there are lots of extras you can request for your room. For anyone wishing to stay longer, the inn is located very close to many local attractions and amenities, and is the perfect place to spend a relaxing vacation in a family run bed and breakfast.

Our room was very clean and nothing was too much trouble while we were there. The food was wonderful and Sue is an amazing cook. We even got to sample her lovely cookies!

My only regret is that we were unable to stay longer at the Inn as one night was definitely not enough. I have stayed in 5* hotels in several different countries and I can honestly say that the service we received at the inn surpassed most of them. The location was great, the service and facilities were wonderful, and overall we had the best time ever, therefore I will give the Inn at Harbour Ridge B&B a 5/5.

Review of Kapilana Resort

The Kapilana Resort offers vacation rentals at Osage Beach in Lake of the Ozarks. The accommodation ranges from lakefront cabins to residential suites and is suitable for families and couples. The Kapilana Resort is situated on the Grand Glaize arm of the lake and overlooks the State Park. It has been rated as the best hotel on Osage Beach and is certainly a lovely place to relax on a hot summer evening while watching the boats sail by.

The Kapilana has plenty of amenities to offer guests including a swimming pool, playground, barbecue grills, boat docks, and boat rentals. There is even free WIFI for those who cannot bear to be away from Facebook and Twitter, although I was banned from using it while we stayed at the resort.

I took my family to the Kapilana Resort at Osage Beach for a weekend break last summer. We rented a condo and it was clean and bug free. The staff were very friendly and the resort location was very convenient for local restaurants and shops.

My kids absolutely loved the place and were entertained the whole time we were there. They adored the pool and games room, and my youngest daughter spent hours on the swing set. In the evening, we all kicked back and relaxed while the world passed us by on the lake.

I would thoroughly recommend the Kapilana Resort for families looking for a quiet vacation in a great lakeside location. While we were staying at the Kapilana we spoke to several other guests, and many of them admitted to coming back to the Kapilana every year. We might join them next year! The facilities are excellent and the accommodation is ideal for a relaxing break. My kids rate the Kapilana Resort as a 5/5 and so do I.

Review of Water’s Edge Motel

The Water’s Edge Motel is described as a Lake of the Ozarks getaway, and unlike many motels you might come across, this one can be found right on the edge of the lake and the fantastic views are included in the price, along with a host of other amenities.

We stayed at the Water’s Edge Motel for three nights while passing through Lake of the Ozarks to visit friends. We arrived at the motel expecting a typical level of accommodation normally found at small hotels/motels, but were pleasantly surprised.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was no sign of bugs anywhere, which makes a welcome change from some places we have stayed in! The beds were very comfortable and the grounds surrounding the motel were beautifully landscaped with lots of amenities for guests to use.

What struck me most about this motel was the great atmosphere. It was almost like a home from home and while many motels are rather soulless, the Water’s Edge Motel was both attractive and fun. The lakeside location was glorious and there was the opportunity to hire kayaks and canoes, which we tried on our second day.

By the time we checked out, both my wife and I had already decided to return the following year for a longer stay as we had enjoyed this one so much. There is nothing bad to say about the Water’s Edge Motel. If you are seeking a relaxing motel in a beautiful lakeside location, the Water’s edge is perfect for families, couples, and pretty much anyone, therefore I have no hesitation in rating this motel a 5/5.

Review of J Bruner’s Restaurant

J Bruner’s is a classic steakhouse restaurant at Lake of the Ozarks featuring fine dining in a casual atmosphere. It describes itself as warm and inviting, perfect for a casual meal after work, or equally as perfect for a special occasion. J Bruner’s restaurant is located on Highway 54 at Osage Beach and is very easy to find. It is usually busy, so reservations are recommended, unless you visit out of season.

I had heard great things about this restaurant, so I decided it was the perfect venue for a romantic meal for two. For the most part I was not disappointed: the restaurant was very busy, but we were seated at a nice table away from the worst of the noise and although it would have been good to have had some background music, there was still a decent atmosphere.

I ordered a steak with a side order of the famous onion rings and my girlfriend ordered the pork loin with plum sauce. The food was excellent. My steak was cooked to perfection and my girlfriend very much enjoyed her pork. Each dish was perfectly presented and a pleasure to eat. Our waiter was very attentive and more than happy to make recommendations before we placed our orders.

All in all, we had a lovely evening and my girlfriend was most impressed with my excellent choice of restaurant. In fact, she was so impressed that she insisted we went back for another meal three days later!

Second time around, the food was just as good. This time we were a little early and decide to try some cocktails before we ate. The bartender was awesome and the cocktails were delicious. Would I recommend the J Bruner’s to a friend? You bet I would. This restaurant definitely deserves a 5/5 for the food alone.

Review of JJs at the Copper Pot

JJs at the Copper Pot is a well known restaurant situated on North Main Street, Laurie. Considered by many to be the best restaurant in the Ozarks, JJs markets itself as an “upscale dining experience” and has an extensive menu featuring entrees, appetizers, and an “after dining experience” as well as a children’s menu. The atmosphere is cosy yet casual, so if you are looking for a venue where you can enjoy great food while relaxing in comfortable attire, JJs is a good choice.

The chef at JJs, Jeff Super, recently won an award for best chef at the lake, and the restaurant is certainly well known amongst regular patrons for the quality of its food, which is why I elected to take our friends who were visiting from out of state.

On the night we visited JJs, we had made a reservation. This was fortunate as the restaurant was exceptionally busy and had we not booked a table in advance, we probably would have been disappointed. As it was, we were greeted with smiles and the service throughout the evening was excellent.

And so was the food! Our party ordered a selection of dishes from prime rib to lobster ravioli, salmon and Dover sole. The service was prompt and the food was absolutely exquisite. My friends were deeply envious that we were lucky enough to have such a wonderful restaurant on our doorstep. Even the salad dressings are wonderful. So good in fact that our friends decided to buy some so they could take the bottle home as a memento of a great dining experience.

But the best was yet to come. JJs serve the most delicious bread pudding on the planet. It is official. I have personally never tasted a better bread pudding anywhere, and neither has my husband.

In summary, I would have no hesitation in rating JJs a resounding 5/5. Amazing!

Review of Osage Beach’s Professional Massage Therapy Center

In the summer of last year, my wife and I had the chance of visiting Osage Beach in Missouri. The visit was centered on my wife’s best friend’s wedding but we decided to turn it into a vacation, primarily owing to the number of good golf clubs, which I heard, exist in the area. Osage beach is an inviting location, Professional Massage Center in Osage Beach, MOwith its golf clubs & massage retreats. Among the many places that I visited in Osage beach, this review is about Osage Beach’s Professional Massage Therapy Center.

Pretty honestly, at first I was skeptic of spending my time and money at a place that is so generically named (professional massage therapy center) but I went nevertheless because I had tired of golf and exhausted other massage centers of the area. Getting there was easy because it is located right on the highway as compared to other massage centers of the area, which sit tucked in cramped localities. The place had a fresh air about it that I loved while walking in their doors. The staff was comprised of humble people who knew to keep the noise levels of the environment low. There are not many of the front-desk staff but the masseurs are always available. ProfeProfessional Massage Therapy Center in Osage Beach, MOssional Massage Therapy Center actually has a ‘massage menu’. It is available on their website. I had checked before hand and planned my visit. I opted for their Craniosarcal therapy. The name, I admit is intimidating and I had opted for it because I had never experienced the treatment before. I will spare you the technical details and conclude that I felt very ‘light-headed’ walking out of the room. They have a few traditional treatments on their offer like Reikhi. However, the choices offered may appear limited to someone who is into holistic treatments big time.

A few days later, my wife tired of Music Street Hall and Osage Beach Premium Outlets joined me at the massage center. She tried one of their facial lifts Review of Osage Beach’s Professional Massage Therapy Centerand has been effervescent of the results. We both love the fact that all treatments that we took were very reasonably priced (more affordable than my wife’s shopping sprees anyways).  The best part is that 60 minutes of a treatment costs less than twice of the base rate calculated for 30 minutes. We had no trouble getting an appointment for the same day during our multiple visits however, if it always is the case or not, I can’t say.

Review of Osage National Golf Club

The main selling point of the Osage National Golf Club is that the course is the only Arnold Palmer signature golf course in Missouri. It describes itself as a great golfing experience with first class amenities and outstanding service.

The Osage National Golf Course offers a 27 hole golf course suitable for championship golf tournaments. It also has on site accommodation for those who want to stay for more than a few hours. Other facilities at the golf course include a 20,000 foot clubhouse with an amazing panoramic view across the green, a swimming pool complex and a sports bar and grille.

As a keen golfer, I booked my family for in for a weekend break so I could enjoy some top class golfing while the kids enjoyed the swimming pool. First impressions were good and the sight of waterfalls from the clubhouse very much impressed the kids.

The on site condos were obviously brand new and located right on the gold course, which was very convenient. The accommodation was perfect for a family break and the condo contained every convenience we required.

The staff at the golf course were exceptional—service was excellent and I did not want for anything while playing golf for the duration of my trip. Ice cold bottles of water were provided before the first tee, which was most welcome considering the ambient temperature at the time, and I was also given a cold cloth to help me cool down during my game.

And at the end of each day I got to enjoy a dip in the pool with my kids before a lovely meal at the clubhouse! Overall, I can find absolutely nothing negative to say about my trip to the Osage National Golf Course and I am more than happy to rate it a top 5 our of 5 stars.
